a hot summer: SOCIAl justice protests

Even in the middle of a global pandemic the murder of George Floyd sparked protests around the world and the streets of Detroit were not to keen to remain silent. video recorded murder of George Floyd at the hands of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin set off protests around the world that would result in protests, marches and rallies that occurred everyday from the end of May until November 2020 making it’s mark as the largest Civil Rights Movement in global history. However, I am happy to say that as a resident of the city of Detroit, unlike other cities, there was not a single incident of looting, arson or destruction, in stark contrast to the riots that took place in the city in 1967.
